Mission

Our Mission is to add significantly in fighting with malnutrition by developing healthy and nutritious food solutions from locally available Mahua flowers, that are affordable by all sections of society, and preserving biodiversity by increasing the economic value of Mahua Tree.

Vision

Healthy nation, prosperous farmers and preserve biodiversity.

Why We Exist

Bastar in Chattishgarh is known for its dense forests including Mahua, Tamarind, Saal, Palash, babool (all comes under major trees of Forest, according to India state of forest report, 2019), which has great potential in terms of providing food, medicine and obvious livelihood to the tribal living in these forest.

ABOUT JUNGLI HEALTHY

Jungli Healthy is a startup and social enterprise from South Bastar, involved in developing innovative and sustainable solutions for malnutrition and biodiversity preservation.  Our belief is that we need to adopt again our traditional food system (in a modern way) which is very rich and scientific. In the present scenario our food and living is very much affected by western style and our generation is forgetting the traditional food and rituals which are very much aligned with nature, that results in increasing health vulnerability and several pandemics. We cannot forget the distortion by COVID 19 and other previous pandemics in not only our country but in the whole world and that is directly related to our body and  immune system which is determined by the food and living habits and how much we are aligned with our mother nature.

So preserving our nature and making ourselves aligned with it is the only way to become resilient from such disasters. But availability of pure and natural food and traditional recipes is again very small and having very limited outreach, Jungli Healthy is trying to fill this gap in society by providing healthy traditional food (Ready to cook and ready to eat) made from Mahua and millet.

Why Mahua as a Food?

Mahua flowers are commonly used for manufacturing only country liquor at commercial level in India. This tree is found in all central Indian States as well as in some parts of South India and every year more than 45000 tone Mahua flowers are produced from these states.

The flowers are rich in amino acids, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals. In Indian Ayurveda, these flowers are considered antioxidants and useful in treatment of several diseases also. As per study done by FAO and WHO in 1990, dry mahua flower is richer in essential amino acids then wheat, soya and skimmed milk.

As per a report published in “nutritive value of Indian food” by National Institute of Nutrition, India, Mahua flower (dry) has less in fat and more in Protein, calcium, fiber, phosphorus than Apple, Banana (ripe), Mango and Raisins.

So we are tapping this untapped future food and great source of nutrition and providing livelihoods through creating rural entrepreneurship with this quote: – “Let Food Become Our Medicine Not Medicine in Place of Food”
